Today is the Third Sunday of Easter.
In today’s Gospel reading, the two disciples told the eleven and their companions what had happened on the road to Emmaus and how Jesus had been known to them in the breaking of the bread. While they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Although they were scared, Jesus reassured them of their witness to his death and resurrection, and indicated that repentance and forgiveness of sins was to be proclaimed in his name to all nations.
Loving Jesus,
Thank you for being with us.
Guide us when we are confused or afraid,
and strengthen us with your courage.
Help us to see your loving presence among us, and
open our hearts to be your loving presence in the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
